In designing this formula Timberwolf Organics started with their new Serengeti formula as a base and added their cold water fish oil blend, chicken liver, a special delactosed whey extract that is very high in the sulfur containing amino acids, eggs, carnitine, creatine and a performance canine vitamin/mineral mix. It contains high levels of animal protein with a good balance of the sulfur containing amino acids, seaweeds, flax seed and feeds 40 - 60% less than other pet foods. This may be their best performing formula!
It is nutrient dense with high levels of amino acids and a proper balance of omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids. Pure chicken fat and cold water fish oils are used for their high levels of linoleic and arachidonic acids (omega - 6), and linolenic and eicosapentaenoic acids (omega 3s). It is designed to satisfy the urgent nutritional requirements of growing, stressed, convalescing, debilitated animals or older canines where a concentrated source of nutrition is required.
The extra small kibble size makes it good for toy breeds and puppies. Wild & Natural ™ is a meat based formula that has over 10 lbs of Chicken and fish meal for every 20 lbs of dog food and includes several protein sources. The high levels of amino acids provide the building blocks necessary for a thick vibrant coat, healthy pink skin, a strong immune system and excellent muscle tone. Melanin, a protein that provides pigmentation, is built from amino acids consumed in the diet.
Wild & Natural™ is a special low ash, low fiber, high performance diet contains high levels of highly digestible ingredients and concentrated sources of nutrients essential for growth. Timberwolf Organics does not put vitamin K3 (menadione sodium bisulfate) in any of its formulas because of health risks to animals and relies instead on high levels of foods that are high in vitamin k1 such as alfalfa, kelp, oats, egg yolk, and liver.
If you were to compare the price of this natural dog food with other performance based foods, even performance foods made with less expensive ingredients such as corn or wheat, you will find that Timberwolf foods are priced very competitively. In fact, think of the best possible pet food you can think of, then take their most expensive performance or puppy based formula. Add to that the fact that Timberworlf uses high levels (almost 50% by weight of dry food) of expensive classified low ash high protein animal meals, walnut and salmon oils, expensive gourmet restaurant quality herbs, spirulina, kelp, dried fruits, antioxidants, expensive packaging, etc. Timberwolf also does not use low levels of these ingredients just to make the label look attractive, but high levels that you can actually smell when you open the bag and in results you can see in your pet in just a few weeks.
Timberwolf uses a low temperature extrusion process which uses steam and pressure to gelatinize the starches quickly at about 200 - 225 degrees F for 15 minutes or less, enabling more nutrients to be retained.
