Holistic or natural health care is becoming much more broadly accepted in society, and this mindset has grown significantly during the past few decades.
People have started to realize that going back to nature and eliminating super-processed or artificially enhanced foods and health products from their regimine results in better health, increased vitality, and a cleaner environment.
The same holds true for our pets. It makes sense to lay a strong foundation for health by avoiding the equivalent of "dog twinkies" when feeding our pup and fueling his or her health. Of course, feeding your dog quality holistic food and caring for them with natural supplements, pest control products and other quality grooming aids won't ensure that your dog will avoid illness, but it'll help stack the deck in your dog's favor.
A healthy dog generally heals faster if injured, fights off minor illnesses better, is less attractive to pests and is frankly more fun to be around. Because natural foods, remedies and environmentally friendly products are becoming more mainstream, they're also becoming less cost-prohibitive.
A dog "twinkie" will always cost less than a high quality natural treat or meal because it simply costs more for quality ingredients, but we can assure you quality natural products exist that won't require a second mortgage to afford!
I think anyone would admit they have more energy and are healthier if they dine on whole grains, vegetables, quality protein and get some exercise vs. lounging on the couch wolfing down fried doughnuts and sugar-drenched-crunchies. I know I do. I can assure you our pups do, too!
