• Rich foods, like gravy, tasty fried morsels and other sinful delicacies can mess with your pup's belly, causing pain, nausea or worse.  It's no treat when your dog's belly turns yucko, so keep the goodies out of reach and instead pamper your pup with a grizzly treat.
• Having a cocktail party or two? Sounds like fun! Just keep in mind dogs don't have bars for a reason... even a single bout with alcohol can potentially turn deadly! So after the party's over, make sure the glasses and drinks are picked up.  This will remove any temptation Fido might have to tie one on (plus you won't have to face the mess later)!
• Dogs love chocolate, but chocolate doesn't love dogs-- it can cause diarrhea, seizures... even death. Dark chocolate is one of the more hazardous forms, but anything with chocolate can wreak havoc, so make sure it's out of the sniffing/snarfing zone.
• Snacks like grapes, raisins and some nuts have mysterious toxins that can damage your dog's kidneys, muscles, or digestive or nervous systems, so make sure they're enjoyed out of reach. 
• Dogs have an amazing sense of smell, and they'll try to get a taste of whatever is making that foil, string, plastic wrap, etc. smell so delicious! The goods have already left the wrapping?  Dogs will take the next best thing... the wrapper!  Elf may be able to digest cotton balls, but dogs don't happily ingest wrappers or strings without intestinal problems that could require immediate medical attention.

• Making some of granny's famous bread?  Make sure the uncooked yeast dough stays out of pup's belly since it can expand and cause gas in the digestive system, resulting in pain and maybe even an intestinal rupture (youch!).

DECOR DANGERS FOR DOGS:

• Like to decorate with plants?  They make a home look so inviting, but keep in mind that holly can upset Fido's stomach or be deadly if ingested. Mistletoe also messes with dog bellies and can cause heart collapse, while poinsettias can cause mouth blisters and stomach upset if touched by dog lips. You don't have to throw out these plants, just make sure they're out of pup's reach.
• Maybe you love the flickering ambience of candles.  Since a flame is required for the flickering, don't leave the candles burning unsupervised and make sure they aren't placed where a curious pet might be able to investigate up close and personal.
• Prefer to scent your season? Keep in mind that potpourri contains oils that can be toxic to dogs if they decide they look like a tasty snack, so make sure they are not within dog snacking range.
